Kirsten completed a Bachelor of Science (Biological Science and Human and Biomolecular Science) from Queensland University of Technology in 2018. In the following year, Kirsten undertook an Honours degree investigating the influence of upstream open reading frames on GGP translation. She was awarded First Class Honours from Queensland University of Technology in 2019. After her undergraduate studies, Kirsten worked as a Research Assistant in Distinguished Professor Dale’s plant manipulation and propagation laboratory in the Centre for Agriculture and the Bioeconomy. Kirsten started her PhD studies with the Inflammasome Lab in April 2022, where she aims to understand the drivers of fibrosis and the role of cytokines and inflammasomes in this chronic inflammatory response.
