Manasa Mellacheruvu

(she, her)

PhD student
Inflammasome Lab

Manasa completed a Bachelor of Science (2014-2017) with Microbiology and Biochemistry as core subjects from St. Francis College, Hyderabad, India. Her interest in Innate Immunity and Signalling Pathways started during her Master’s program in Immunobiology (2017-2019) where she pursued her research (Master Thesis) at the Institute of Innate Immunity, University of Bonn, Germany in Prof. Eicke Latz’s lab. Her research in Prof. Latz’s lab aimed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of NLRP3 inflammasome activation by investigating how Reactive Oxygen Species affects NLRP3 activation status. Manasa’s research continued in the field as she worked as a Research Assistant in Prof. Latz’s lab until June 2020. Manasa commenced her PhD in the Inflammasome Lab in 2022. Her research focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of activation of inflammasomes, assembled by Nod-like receptors, to understand their structure and conformation in physiological and active states and their suitability as anti-inflammatory drug targets.
