Jared Coombs

Jared Coombs

(he, him)

PhD student
Inflammasome Lab

Jared joined the Inflammasome Lab in 2019 for an undergraduate research project. In 2021, he undertook an Honours project that explored the hyperactivation mechanisms of NLRP3, the catalyst for a group of rare but severe genetic autoinflammatory diseases, and investigated novel small molecule inhibitors to treat such diseases. Jared’s research earned him First Class Honours. Jared stayed on as a research assistant in 2022, before commencing his PhD in January 2023 as an IMB Global Challenges scholar. His PhD project will examine the role of inflammasomes in wound healing and explore novel therapeutics for chronic, unhealing wounds.
